Military Spouse 101

 

Want to learn more about the Navy and the resources available to you? Fleet and Family Services will be holding a class on December 10th to help answer your questions.  The class will be held in the FFSC Bldg 1, Room 702, fromt 8:30-3:30.  For more information please call 90-270-6600 Ext 1701.

Youth Tennis Classes

Youth Tennis are now available at the Youth Activity Center. All classes are held at the Mayport Tennis Courts on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 pm. Open to ages 5-15. Additional classes will be added if class size necessitates it. Cost is $40 per child; there is a $5 discount for each additional child within the same family. Little Big Town Concert!

FREE LITTLE BIG TOWN concert tickets in conjunction with the Navy-Marine Corps Classic, 9 November 2012 at NS Mayport!

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Concert begins at 6:00 p.m. Tickets for this concert have been donated for the use of military personnel (active, reserve and retired) and DOD employees and their families. Must have base access (o...

r be accompanied by someone with base access). Active Duty personnel are required to wear uniforms to the concert (Navy Working Uniforms/NWUs or Service Equivalent). Each service member or DOD employee is allowed a ticket for themselves and up to 3 more for their families and/or accompanied guests. Tickets are non-transferrable and shall not be resold on the open market. Following the concert, watch the University of Florida Gators take on the Georgetown Hoyas on the JUMBOTRONS. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Tickets are available NOW at the MWR ITT Office during normal business hours. Tickets are available today for all eligible patrons. For more information, please call ITT at (904) 270-5145, press 5 for an agent.

Concert!

Mayport USO has free tickets to the Brad Paisley concert for tomorrow night.  The active military member has to be the one to pick up the tickets and you are allowed only 2 tickets.

October Events

 

October 11th: Coffee night at Panera Bread.  We are meeting at 7:00

 

October 13th:  Fall Fest from 2:00 until 6:00. 

 

October 16th: We will be having a planning meeting.  We will be planning the Halloween Extravaganza and the yard sale.  We will be serving dinner for everyone!

 

October 20th:  Yard sale.  If you would like to help out or donate items, please let us know!

 

October 24th:  Smoothie night at Smoothie King on Atlantic Blvd.  We will be meeting at 6:30

 

October 29th:  We will be having the Halloween Extravaganza starting at 6:00.

Fro Yo Night

Save Our Sanity Night

Wanting to get out of the house and have a little girl time? Come on out to Bahama Breeze, located at The Town Center, and have a child free dinner!  We are meeting Saturday the 15th at 7:00.  Hope to see everyone there!!

Yogurt Night!!

Come out and enjoy some yogurt with everyone!!  Fro-Yo Night is Wednesday, August 29th at 6:30.  It is at TCBY near Smashburger at Seminole Shoppes in Neptune Beach.  Hope to see everyone there!

Trying to find a way to keep cool in this hot weather?  Come on out to Brusters Ice Cream by the Walmart on Atlantic, tonight at 6:30.  Hope to see everyone there!!

We are accepting donations for our yard sale on Saturday.  Please let us know if you have anything you would like to donate.All of the proceeds will go to send items to our sailors, etc.  It will take place at 11518 Maclay Court Jacksonville, Fl.  We hope to collect a lot of items and see a lot of you there!

Never Quit

The Never Quit Beach Challenge at Jacksonville Beach on Saturday, June 9, 2012, is a Great way to spend a Saturday:

• 5K Run (at 7:35am & 9am)
• TRIDENT CHALLENGE: consisting of a 5K Run, 500 Meter Ocean Swim, and a 1.5K Ocean Surfboard Paddle (7:30am)
• a Military WARRIOR CHALLENGE, JR WARRIOR CHALLENGE and BATTLE FOR THE BEACH
• Surfing lessons
• 1 Mile Fun Run

Budget For Baby Class!!

First and third Wednesday of every month.  This class is offered by Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.  To schedule call: 270-5418 Ext 3.  At the end of class you will receive your babies first sea bag.  The bag will be filled with homemade items and many other layette needs made by Gerber.

NO DOUGH DINNER will be on Monday, May 21st from 5:00-7:00 PM. We pushed the date up a week due to Memorial Day. Menu will include pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw, dessert and drinks. Thank you to Rotary Club of Jacksonville-Oceanside for sponsoring this meal!

MAYPORT NAVAL STATION CHAPEL FISH FRY: This Sunday, 20 MAY the Protestant Community will be hosting a Fish Fry Fellowship Lunch at the Mayport Naval Station Chapel at 12:00pm. All are welcome to attend. Come out and enjoy some of best fried fish in the Mayport area. For those who prefer, chicken will also be offered. Everything is free. We look forward to you joining us. We are needing volunteers to help at the going aways next month. Some of our leaders spouses will be leaving and need some FRG members to stand in. They will be pier or airport going aways. We are there for the families and sailors. Please let me know if you are interested in helping us and the command. I will give out the information to those that let us know as the dates are let out and if you are able to be there that day. We have had children of the volunteers at the events so there isn't a problem if you bring your kids.

Jennifer Wilsnack is a pilot’s wife in HSL 46. She is working on a local fundraiser, “The Undie Campaign.” Its goal is to collect packages of new underwear to donate primarily to school children, at risk women and girls, and veterans. It is a local drive and all donations will stay in the Jacksonville area. It will continue until May 21st. If you would like to donate, please let me know, and I can get the packages to her. You can also make monetary donations at http://www.dignityuwear.org/index.php/give/ along with additional information regarding the mission of The Undie Campaign.
